Roden 1:72 Scale Fokker F.1 Plastic Model Kit - ROD017
The story of the most famous plane of the First World War, the Fokker Dr.1, outstanding creation of the famous and talented Dutch designer Antony Fokker, would be incomplete without the story of its pre-production model, the Fokker F.I. Although only three were built, it left an indelible trace in the history of air fighting in the Great War.
The picture shows the last air fight of this German ace that took place on 23 September 1917. In an evening, about nineteen o'clock, Werner Foss flied a second mission this day. Chasing a lonely SE-5, he was trapped: his fighter was attacked by several British fighters from 56th Squadron of RFC (Royal Flying Corps) under command of McCudden, an English ace. A death air carousel started twirling. Foss succeeded in damaging McCudden's fighter, but notwithstanding he was beaten down by Arthur Rhys-Davis. So a German ace met his fate.
